Ace 1.4 Alpha Nov. 10th, 2019 Update
Hey there, Itch! Shap here!
In patch 1.4:
-Tweaked Shap Studios animated intro
-Tweaked knockback and its variantsas well as related flight time calculations
-Fixed character collision (did I really just not center the origin relative to the bounding box? -_- )
-Added damage to hitting walls while in hitstun
->Corresonpondingly added Teching (but forgot to add it to the extra information menu; press jump to Tech)
-Threw in some royalty-free battle tunes (somehow, it always comes down to the last 30 minutes of a weekend to pick music)
-Made a first-pass on camera shake
-Fixed a silly change that deleted a deck's new name as soon as it was confirmed
-Learned about surfaces in GMS2 and added more interesting transitions
-Other minor visual changes (matches and menu)
-Discovered bugs (still have an audio-related walljump bug that isn't in previous versions and I can't figure out why)
----------------
I've always wanted to do a devlog; considering the numerous tiny optimizations that I'd make to a games is inherently fun for me. Being able to check those off in my own project is quite satisfying, even if alterations come in really small chunks (due to only being able to work on the weekends of my gap year).
From the first version that I even seriously considered releasing on Itch to now, a ton has happened. Bug fixes galore, UX optimizations, and, of course, interesting realizations and lessons, which are my main motivations for following through with this project besides the sheer fun and satisfaction of the work.
Please let me know what you think. Have a good one; thanks!
